I was wondering if my son has any rights concerning his 2 week old daughter. he's 19 and the mother is 15 soon to be 16 the 12 of december. she lives with her mother and step father and they wont let my son around the baby. The girls mother kicked her out with the baby(she stayed at my house) and then 3 days later told her she better get back home or juvenille people will take her and the baby. so what I was wondering is can the mother of the child give my son the baby legally with out going to court? his name is on the birth cert.

He is the father, he has rights and now in some states they are starting to recognize grandparent rights. It may not be easy..others probably angry..of course it's all his fault this happened...right? Research your state laws on family or state child resides, then go from there. Down side is that all may not work easily and court will be only answer. It is still your kin, your blood, your grandbaby..and with teens who does a child have for backup except the grandparents? Legally in your state, for you???but morally,ethically...you have a right to your child and your grandbaby. Isn't that supposed to be the best thing in life for a kid...going to Grandmas....games,fun,candy,etc....
It is ashame the other side takes a neg position when by working together it would only benefit all. Good luck...every child has a right to be spoiled and loved by grandparents!!!!!!
