me and my son's father were never married. we have an 11 year old child. he has never taken any kind of financial responsibilty for this child. my child's birth certificate lists no father. he sometimes takes our child for the weekend. can i press charges for kidnapping if he tries to keep him? does he legally have any rights to our child? help!!!!!!!!!!!

i am not a lawyer, nor do i live in texas. however, you should be able to find out what the laws are in texas on the internet. in some states like idaho and minnesota, if the father of your child never LEGALLY established his paternity, he has no legal rights to the child. also, you would have no rights for child support either unless you make him establish his paternity through the courts. find out what the laws are in texas. use the key phrase
"paternity+laws+texas" and that should give you a starting point. good luck!
