I'm sorry to keep asking questions but this whole process is very confusing to me. I retained an Attorney and filed for divorce.I have no problem with the retainer, fees, etc.
My problem is that whenever I call to talk with my attorney I am given a date for a telephone conference which may be several days away. Also her secretary will bill me $3.00 everytime I ask "any" question even if it is legal or not. So I am being billed by a secretary who is saying I can't help you! Is this normal procedure for most Attorneys? Do I need to find an Attorney who is more available considering the amount of fees I am paying?

I AM ALWAYS LIABLE

My response:

Look at your Retainer Agreement. What does it say, exactly, concerning fees and calls to their office. The secretary isn't billing you; the office, as a whole, is billing you.

Doing so keeps client calls to a minimum, and ensures that when you do call, it's important and it's a good question.

Some clients love to call my office just for the sake of calling. When I send my monthly billing to them, it stops.

Gee, I wonder why ?
