What is the name of your state? tx
If you were granted asylum in 2002 and started working and paying your tax, and then finally obtained you Green Card in 2007 or 2008, could you apply for citizenship after the green card within less than 5 years. badsed on your being in the Country for more than 6 or 7 years paying your taxes and acting exactly like a permenat resident, only without the Green Card, which the system takes forever to issue it when based on Asylum.
