Neil, so sorry this happened to you. I have heard this said in almost every case I've seen of a dog attacking someone. "Well, he's never bitten anyone before!" is such a helpful statement! And I bet he showed no apparent remorse, either. Having a dog is like having a weapon. It takes responsibility and there's always that bit of uncertainty involved.
