I purchased the domain name as well as other related domain names for the apartment complex in which I live in Florida. I also purchased the web domain for the management company that runs the apartment complex. At this time, I feel they have no interest in the web domain (until they find out I own them) as they advertise on an apartment finder's site. As far as I know they are not aware of its existence and do not want them to know I have them till I know I have no legal exposure.

These are my questions:

Is it illegal for me to own the web domain(s) for my aparment complex? I just have an "Under Construction" page.
If so, can I be forced to turn them over to them?

Isn't it the responsibility of a business to secure its web domain or do they have an automatic "right" to the name?
(keeping in mind there could be more than one apartment complex in the world with the same name).

Why was it possible for me to buy them? Should Network Solutions be allowed to sell "business Names" without proving proof of ownership?

Your help and advice is greatly appreciated.

It seems to me you likely are "cybersquatting" and could be forced to turn the names over as you have no legitimate intent to use the name or rights to it other than spite.
