I am asking this question for my sister who lives in Florida. (I do too). For the second time in 6 months her car has gotten broken in to. The first time this happened about 5 months ago, her wheels were stolen. After this incident she got locks put on her wheels and a car alarm installed. Now again last night the car was broken into. The car alarm worked. All that was taken were her CD's. The drivers side window was broken and the theives had popped the trunk and hood but because of the alarm they took off. The complex claims they have Wackenhut security, but she never sees anyone. She does not feel safe anymore. She is in the very first apt closest to the street. I may add that her neighbors car has been broken into 2 times in the past 6 months too. She is afraid now and very annoyed. Does she have any right to break the lease. It is a year lease. She WILL move in 6 months, but wants out sooner. any advice. Thank you.

Sis needs to send L a certified letter documenting the incidents (hopefully she filed police reports) and requesting that L provide better security or she will be forced to cancel the lease.
