What is the name of your state? Virginia

I just entered into a contract for my dream home. One day my dad went to see the property I was purchasing, when he was approached by a neighbor. Telling the neighbor that his son was in the process of purchaising the home, the neighbor asked if I knew that the property will be demolished by the city starting next year and that all home owners were notofied in person and by mail. I don't have a clue what to do. My agent says I need to talk to the closing attorney? I'm getting ready to spend thousands and I may not get that money back next year from the city. I need some advise.

**A: let me get this straight: you don't know what to do? Well for starters, why not call the city to get the real facts. Then when you uncover the truth, post back.

Q: My agent says I need to talk to the closing attorney?
A: What did the closing attorney say?

Also, if the city is going to demolish these houses, there must be a condemnation action. Go to the courthouse in the county where this land is and search the defendants in all cases for the last couple of years using the owner's name as your criteria.
