What say we stop goofing around and get to the story all in one thread, hmmm?

You forged a doctor's note and the principal called the doctor and, surprise, there was no doctor's visit and the doctor refused to lie for you.

Yes, it was legal for the principal to call the doctor. Yes, it was illegal for you to forge the note. No, the odds against anyone actually calling the police are huge.

In other words, the long and the short of your punishment is whatever the principal and your parents dish out.

First, the word is PRINCIPAL. A principle is a moral guideline. A PRINCIPAL is the head master or mistress of a school.

Second, no, not everyone can get information. However, if you turned in a legal document validating a doctor's visit and the nature of your sickness, the PRINCIPAL or, for that matter, your employer, can call the doctor and ask if the note's content is true.

This does not violate HIPAA because YOU have already divulged the information to the PRINCIPAL.
