What is the name of your state? California, My 73 year old father suffered a fall breaking his hip. During his treatment (solid rod surgery) he received a catheter when it came time to remove it approx. 7-10 days later he was unable to urinate on his own. they replaced the catheter, and then shortly after sent him to nurseing home for a month. After he came home he was sent to a urologest who the did a laser procedure on his prostate which seemed to be unsucessful. While staying in the hospitial 4 days after proceedure he suffered unusaul pain according to his Dr. however was still sent home catheter in place.during his stay he got weaker and weaker ikeep taking him back to th ER. as instructed by his home health care nurse, they would do some tests give him a shot and some IV medications and send him home. so we spent the next month of him becomeing weaker and deranged
he was getting obsessive with going to the bathroom i would have to tell him he had a catheter and he was urinating as needed. My fater has never had demention our any noticeable mental problems prior to hospitial stay. After taking him back six or seven times to ER and the same thing occurred, I took him finally demanding he be addmittited the hospitaillist Dr. refused. we went home again the next morning he was so sick I couldn't have got him in the truck by myself and had to call the paremedics and they took him to the nearest hospitail. that was over three weeks ago he is still in the hopitial. Today, 6 months After his fall and hospitialization the told that he has Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aurieus. This is a different hospitial, is there legal consideration that would keep the Dr.s in his medical group from passing the buck and neglecting to give him treatment for what they gave him in the first place? I don't know what to do?
