What is the name of your state? Georgia
the police werent able to get any information on the person driving the car that caused an accident involving my father other than a brief description of the vehicle he was driving. what are my options now that he is left injured with no one to file a claim against?

full coverage, health insurance, but the state did away with the no-fault part that wouldve paid for his lost wages since the wreck will keep him out of work for 5 months.

I mean what are the specific named coverages? Full coverage normally includes collision, but what about uninsured motorist? If he has that, it would be available to cover out of pocket medical expenses and lost wages.

He may or may not be able to use UMPD for a hit and run accident, depends on the policy, but he should be able to use UMBI. How serious are his injuries?

left kneecap shattered
right foot broken
he has full medical insurance though and i believe they're already paying for the hospital bills

He should consult a lawyer, with such serious injuries, regarding what he can get from UMBI. He will have to pay his health insurance company back out of any settlement, but he should at least be able to get his copays and lost wages covered.

Someone needs to read his policy carefully to see if the company is following it in denying the claim. Consulting a lawyer is free. And if the company is not following the policy, then they need to be confronted.

we should be getting with our attorney on this soon to try and figure out which way to go from here, hopefully the local police will spot the driver, assuming they still have a posting in their system to be on the lookout for him.
