drivers license suspension

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL

Father is living in IL, children are in Nevada, and is currently enrolled in truck driving school, due to not being able to find good paying job, is out of work and behind on child support, went to take a written test from the DMV and was told he could not because his license had been suspended by Nevada for the lack of being behind in child support, granted he is behind in child support payments(and was never notified of the drivers license being suspended)and has no problem with wanting to pay this, but the whole point in enrolling in school and going with this program is to get a good job to support his kids and is now trying to figure out how and when he can get his drivers license, still waiting on the caseworker to contact him, in the meantime any suggestions?

Other than trying to borrow the money to pay off the child support arrears...I'm not sure what else to suggest.

He needs to be working - any job - he may have to postpone truck driving school.

That is not a problem, but now with his license being suspended he is going to have to have others drive him around and not to mention since his previous job he was working at he was a sub contractor and can not receive unemployment he was unable to pay for school so went through government grant for school and if he quit's school he would have to also have to worry about repaying the gov. he does not have a problem with trying to pay child support thats why he went to school to get a good paying and stable job, unlike the last company he worked for and they just left the area without giving any of the workers notice, just curious if anything could be done on trying to retain his drivers license to continue with school and get a career in driving

when he was out of work, did he contact the child support office and let them know? did he file a modification?

has he contacted them now and asked if he can make a payment and/or set up a payment plan to pay off arrears.

He has contacted the caseworker and is waiting for them to get back to them, as far as an amount, he was unable to find this out, still waiting to hear from the caseworker, the said it would take up to 48 hours, and thanks for all the comments and advice, I personally am not to educated when it comes to this matter, any help is greatly appreciated, we are just at a stand still right now, he does not want to quit school because this is a good opportunity for a good paying career and a chance to get caught up on his child support, and not to mention the schooling was government funded because he is classified as a displaced worker.

He needs to understand something - he may not have the luxury of choosing to go to school at the moment; he really needed to have filed to modify the CS amount when he first became unemployed.

Has he filed to modify yet? If not, why not?

And yes I am the new partner, he has not been with this woman in over 5 years, not that this matters much, it just keeps getting worse with this situation, 2 years ago Nevada contacted him and wanted him to take a DNA test for her infant child, I believe that this is kid number 6 for her, it was kinda funny actually, he has not been with her in over 5 years not even lived in the same state in 5 years.

Here's the thing hon. You have NO right whatsoever to start criticizing the mother of your boyfriend's child.

None.

Tell you boyfriend to file for a modification in his child support and go from there.

Please say that he didn't ignore that summons? Or has he been legally adjudicated as daddy for this child?

The DMV will not tell you what amount needs to be paid. But because he is in a different state it may take a little longer to work this out.

He should have known the rules to not paying the child support. If he doesn't know the rules, he needs to read them.

He will be required to make a payment and work out an agreement with the child support office to pay off the arrears. Unless he can pay everything he owes now, they may require paperwork, therfore making the wait period longer.

He may also pay more in child support if his new job pays higher wages.
