I've been in an accident and am currently on disability. I live in Michigan, and my employer has told me that they are going to stop paying my health insurance premiums and offer me COBRA at my expense. Since my auto insurance is covering all of my replacement costs and medical bills, are they also obligated to pay my health insurance premiums that would normally be covered by my employer if I was still working?

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

I don't think your auto insurance is responsible for your health insurance. That is not something that is a natural or contemplated consequence of your auto accident.

If you feel your employer is wrongly dropping you and owes you the duty to keep on the health insurance plan, contact an attorney (employment labor law) in your state to help you.

As long as you are on disabilty and still on the company payroll as an employee..........
HE CANNOT stop your health insurance, UNLESS he does it to every employee in the company.
