What is the name of your state?michigan
My son had just turned 16, went out with some friends. He was driving and speeding. A friend got some marijuanna from his brother and brought it with him. The police pulled my son over and found the marijuanna. My son was arrested and questioned by the police for over an hour when he finally admitted the marijuanna was his and he was arrested, the other three boys were set free. We had a hearing, and being the parents we are decided to have our son plead guilty and accept the consequences for his actions. He was placed on 6 months probation, restricted license, 100 hours of community service, house arrest for one month and an 8 o'clock curfew, and through the pleading of my husband and myself given the "gift", that if he remained out of trouble for the probationary period this record would be erased....well that was august, now in november he chose to go out with friends, and get drunk (breaking a "few" of his probationary rules) This time he and the drive were arrested, the other two children again set free. We are currently awaiting a hearing date. His father and I are so upset, upset that he could have a problem (we have placed him in counseling), upset that he has thrown away a great athletic career, and any chances of redeeming himself. We have heard that with this kind of record he will have difficulty getting into college, getting loans for school, and securing a good job. The school has already suspended his rights to continue in school sports for at least one year (which I believe is one of the best ways to keep children out of troube is to keep then active in structured sports/activities). My heart aches. He is the youngest of five children and was always a good, good-hearted person. We thought he was intelligent, but with the choices he has been makeing, we are very concerned for him. I know he will have to suffer the consequences, and that could be a "blessing in disguiese", I guess. But my question is this, what consequences are we looking at and is there any hope for him/us.....................
