Hi,

My wife is American, I'm Mexican. We had a baby a couple months ago here in the US and we already have her birth certificate, SSN, etc.

My question is: is there such thing as "dual citizenship"? can she be Mexican and American at the same time??

A couple of friends told me I can take her to the Mexican consulate to register her under Mexican law and then she would become Mexican but I believe this is only valid if both parents are Mexican.

Does anyone know where the US law stands on this point?

thanks,
Jorge.

The US does not reconize any form of dual citizenship.. but it does not stop you from getting the child a Mexican Passport providing Mexico reconizes DC.
