What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California! i live in california and a month ago I had gotten a DUI, also never having a drivers lisence, the Ca CHP placed a 30-day hold on my truck! The day the 30-day hold was up the tow company called me saying the lein on my truck had gone through and was sold and seen driving around by someone else the same day as the hold came off. I didnt even get a chance to take money in there to get my truck out before they sold it, there wasnt even a few hours, is this legal? also the tow company that took it was related to the previous owner, who is now deceased, and they wanted the truck back in the family. please help I feel like they just robbed my truck from me, and maybe a conflict of intrest is gone here to but I really dont know.

Was the truck titled and registered in YOUR name when it was impounded?

Yep. When they have lawful cause to tow a vehicle, and the driver had never had a license or had a suspended license, the vehicle can be stored for 30 days before released and could cost $2000 or so to get out when the time is up.

The day the 30-day hold was up the tow company called me saying the lein on my truck had gone through and was sold and seen driving around by someone else the same day as the hold came off.
They were required to notify you well before they obtained it through lien. By day 15 (if memory serves) the interested parties should have been mailed notice of the lien and given the chance to respond. If there was no response, then on day 31 the vehicle can be sold.

I didnt even get a chance to take money in there to get my truck out before they sold it, there wasnt even a few hours, is this legal?
If all the procedures were followed, yes.

As IGB asked, was your current name and address indicated on the DMV paperwork? Were you listed as the registered and/or legal owner?
