What is the name of your state? PA

Please see link below... this was conducted on a major highway.

alomst 6300 cars checked only 19 arrests...

I gotta say I don't agree with check points.. espically on a major highway..

if they really want to catch people and also make a statement.. they should go to a high traffic bar area like say the south side in Pittsburgh set up check points say at both ends of a street then we will get some real results...

however they won't do that for several reason.. main one IMO being people will stop going to that part of town... citizens and business will start to complain then you will get law suites etc.. next to the state supreme court then they could lose the ability to run check points.. if they lose.. plus imagine the loss of $$$ for the sale of beer etc.. that night and in that part of town...

Correction Bad guys/girls... :p

yes it is good...

I would prefer them to hit a HIGH traffic area where the bars are than a highway... is my point...
Which is great and all, but why are you telling us? We're not the ones who decide where the road blocks are set up. Send a letter to the police!

(Also, be prepared to argue what ratio of stops:arrests is satisfactory to you.)

this is a good point...

they just can not ste them up anywhere..

I was listening to local radio today and they are saying there has not been a DUI arrest or stop(with in a 3/4's of a mile) where this check point was set up in over a year..

wonder what will happen. Guess a judge will decide.

I don't get you...
Wonder what will happen about WHAT?
And, why can't they not just set them up anywhere?

PA state supreme court says check points are legal BUT they have to be conducted in high traffic dui arrest/crash areas.. they just can not set them up on any old street.

What will happen with the location picked for this one... they did a check point 2 years ago.. arrested 3 people all of them got the cases tossed out because the location picked did not have any DUI accidents/arrests in something like 3 years...
