I WAS CONVICTED FOR A DUI IN FLORIDA IN 1987 AND WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE CORRECTIVE PROCEDURE OF PAYING THE FINE, ATTENDING SCHOOL AND PERFORMING COMMUNITY SERVICE. MY LICENSE WAS REINSTATED. I LATER MOVED TO MARYLAND AND GOT MY DRIVING LICENSE TRANSFERRED TO THAT STATE. LATER, IN 1995 I RENEWED MY MARYLAND LICENSE WHICH WAS VALID UNTIL 2000. HOWEVER, WHEN I TRIED TO FURTHER RENEW MY LICENSE THROUGH THE MAIL IN 2000, I WAS TOLD THAT MY MARYLAND LICENSE HAD BEEN CANCELLED UPON ADVERSE INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM FLORIDA. WHEN I CALLED THE DMV, FLORIDA THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A MISTAKE AND I DO NOT SHOW IN THEIR RECORDS AT ALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WERE JUST NOT WILLING TO PUT THIS IN WRITING. I WENT BACK TO THE MARYLAND DMV WHO SAID "TOO LATE" AND THAT MY RECORDS HAD BEEN ERASED FROM THEIR SYSTEM. IN OTHER WORDS, I HAD TO APPEAR FOR FRESH WRITTEN AND ROAD TESTS AS IF I WERE GETTING A BRAND NEW LICENSE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!! MY DRIVING EXPERIENCE FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS IS WIPED OUT!!! I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A SINGLE MOVING TRAFFIC VIOLATION EXCEPTING FOR WHAT UNFORTUNATELY HAPPENED IN FLORIDA IN 1987. PLEASE ADVICE WHAT I CAN DO NOW TO GET MY MARYLAND LICENSE REVIVED THROUGH THE MAIL AS I PLAN TO RETURN TO THE USA SOON. THANK YOU.
