I live in California here.

I got a wet&wreckless exactly one year ago and since then I have taken all the steps to fix everything so i can move on with my life. I paid the dues, attended dui school, and paid an outside insurance to file SR-22 for me as a back up. So, everything has been going good and I drink much less often now.
When it was time to pay for insurance, i expected to see huge insurance hikes but it didn't go up at all... I am not sure why but I think it had something to do with the outside company filing the SR-22 for me. So now it's time for me to pay my secondary insurer for their dues. My secondary insurance basically guarantees me the rates that i got pre-DUI. So if i decided to just drop the secondary insurance, would they be legally inclined to notify my main insurance of my DUI status and hand over the paper work to them? Ideally, i would like my main insurance to not find out as long as possible.

I am curious of what you guys think and let me know what i should do.

Thanks,

It's "wet reckless." Sometimes it takes a renewal cycle to get the rates jacked up based on your convictions. California doesn't have any mandated insurance rate adjustments so it's up to the underwriter. You can count on the fact that your insurer doesn't need a secondary insurer to let them know what is going on here.
