i realize that easements are a part of any home and land purchase, but do the property owners have any options when the county or city suddenly decides to place sewer lines through the center of the owners property? this property is located in nc. and the sewer lines are being laid to aid an apartment developer, not the home owner, the property involved is 1 and 1/2 acres in size.

Were you notified by the city when this project was in the planning stage? Does the easement damage your property at all or lower its value? Unless your property was damaged or you were not notified or compensated for your loss and inconvenience, then you probably do not have much to go on. I am not an expert in real estate matters. If you still have questions, try to locate a local real estate attorney who can review the situation with you as to any options you might have.
