I'm from Colorado and my son is 6 1/2 years old. His father has not seen him, or even tried to see him since he was 4 days old. I have never gotten a penny from him. I've since gotten married and am doing fine. Since his father's name is on the birth certificate, I'd like to have his parental rights relinquished so I can make sure my son stays in my family if anything were to happen to me. I know his father will voluntarily sign away his rights, but want to know what steps I have follow for this to be done.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
