Hi,

I'm from Ireland and yesterday I bought a new Nokia cellphone on eBay, for €300.

One of the methods of payment that the seller accepted was "Cash on Delivery." I felt that this was the safest way of payment for both of us, there is no risk involved as payment is done through a shipping agent such as UPS or DHL.

Today, I got an e-mail from the seller saying that they want the money to be transfered into their bank account before they send the phone. I then replied stating that I wanted to do COD (which they accept.) They send another e-mail back to me saying "No, you have to transfer the money first."

Could you advise me on what to do, as I commited to buying the phone through COD, but they are now telling me they won't do COD.

The reason I don't want to do a money transfer is because I lost €350 on the net a few months ago because I did a money transfer and the goods were never sent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Jamie

You could file a dispute through ebay as they are not honoring a payment they orginally listed as accepting and not pay for the item (then order from someone else).

Tis VERY unusual for an e-bay seller to offer any form of COD on such an item. I have done it with NFL tickets for local residents, but that is not the same. This COD smells like fish.
