I bought a vehicle from ebay with buy it now option near the end of auction.
In the purchase iformation section it stated i had to pay a 20% fee within 48 hours. Seller was in Middleboro Ma. I went to his place of business within the time limit. and he had sold the vehicle. I had the expenses from the trip and no vehicle. Ebay states when you pertisipate in there auctions you have entered into a contract. If I had a contract with seller to buy the vehicle and vehicle was sold after contract was made did he sell my vehicle

Oftentimes, auctions such as this also state that the seller reserves the right to sell the vehicle at any point prior to the deposit being placed.

Ebay states no such thing in general, but they discourage sellers of most auctions not carrying through.

Vehicle sales HOWEVER are one of forums where they specifically allow "subject to prior sales." They do this so they can get the bulk listings from dealers. They don't give squat about the purchaser.

The vehicle listing is little more than an advertisement.
