South Carolina
I guess I'm another frustration new E-Bay seller. I reside in the Charleston, SC area and sold a 2002 SeaDoo and trailer on Ebay to a lady in Hickory, NC. She states that the ski was not as advertised, that there was gel coat damage and had mechanical problems. I have e-mail proof through Ebay's message center that she was offered close-up pics of the gel coat or anything else she wanted...she declined. We had the SeaDoo throughly checked out by an authorized SeaDoo dealer in Charleston, SC that offered a 30 day guarantee on the service and 90 day on the parts . I told her if she were the winning bidder that we would pass the guarantee on to her. Since we were going to NC for a family visit, we offered to deliver the ski as far as Statesville, NC. When she saw the ski she went nuts...talking about the condition of the gel coat (which is minimal), but signed the Bill of Sale and took possession of the ski and trailer. The next day she contacted me and said they had mechanical problems....long story short now...the SeaDoo went into Ebay's Dispute Console for resolution. I apologized that she had problems with the ski and offered to pay any additional costs due to mechanical failure, but she would have to bring it to Charleston, SC to the dealer that guaranteed the work....she said I had to pay for the cost of repairs done at her dealer in Hickory, NC including gel coat repairs, or she would sue.....she has started litigation in Hickory, NC and says I will have to appear in court there. During this entire process this woman has sent me over 51 e-mails and an additional 21 through the Dispute Console. She managed to get Ebay to suspend my account until I refund all of her money..$5,875.00. Ebay has been no help to me as the seller. The woman even accused me of drinking alcohol when I delivered the SeaDoo through the Dispute Console and also of taking drugs. I think I need a lawyer! Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
