Okay, here's my problem. I recently sold some dolls on Ebay. When I got them I thought they might be worth some money but did not expect them to sell for as much as they did, the doll in question was $300. Because I know nothing about collectable dolls, I took numerous pictures and tried to be as thorough as possible in my descriptions and in answering the numerous questions about the dolls. I also stated that I know nothing about dolls or these dolls specifically. One of the buyers is saying that there is a big scratch on the face of one of the dolls and asked me to refund $100 to pay for repairs. I declined and offered a refund of the sale price and the original shipping cost if they sent the doll back to me. The buyer has since said they will not pay for the shipping and will not ship it until I refund the money. Because they first tried to get me to refund some money for damage I am sure does not exist I don't trust them to send the doll back after I refund the money. They are in Ca and I am in Pa. Now they are threatening me with legal actions and internet sales fraud. Should I send the doll first? I would rather pay the shipping to make this go away but again I don't trust them to send the doll back.

I wouldn't

I wouldn't do much of anthing... sounds like a case of buyer's remorse to me. I doubt they will actually file any reports on you, and even if they do nothing will come of it. In no store online or off in this country would a merchant issue a refund prior to return of merchandise. You gave ample warning that you were not a collector, you offered a full refund, you have done enough. The only thing I would consider is offering to pay them their return shipping costs AFTER they ship the doll.

If they were legit, they would just return the doll and the persue legal action if you did not refund them.

IMHO

I buy and sell a lot on eBay. Did you state anything about the dolls being mint? If not, I would not worry about it. He'll leave you bad feedback. Don't worry about that, as long as you have lots of good feedback. IMO, eBay is getting too big and there are some real weirdos buying and selling...be very cautious.

Yes I stated that I know nothing about the dolls or their condition. I never used the word mint anywhere. The pictures on the listing pretty much showed the codition which was evidently very good based on what the other 12 people who bought dolls from the same group have said. Thanks.

The person will have to file a small claims case against you in PA if they want to pursue this. It sounds like you represented the doll fairly, so tell them to forget about it!

Ebay Problem

I'm in PA the other person is in CA.
One other thing about this whole situation that is still bothering me.
I have been looking through this forum quite a bit and I have seen one or two mentions of it being possible for a buyer in California to file suit in California and if I filed a motion for lack of jurisdiction they would claim that since Ebay is in California, California would have jurisdiction. Is that possible or does that ever happen?

It wouldn't help them any unless you have assets in CA. They could, but then they would still have to go to PA to do anything with it.
