What is the name of your state?TN

Does anyone know if there is a way to trace an email once it is sent to you?

If it was sent through a domain like yahoo or hotmail?

If you are using Outlook, just right click on the message and go to options. At the bottom of the dialog box there is an internet headers portion... This will show you exactly where the email was routed from; thereby, allowing you to find out where it was sent from. However, I do not know where you would go from there...

The WHOIS lookup only works for local email address. It will tell you what general area the email was sent from. As far as yahoo and hotmail, everything comes from one main location, and can not be tracked. I was getting threating messages from somebody with a hotmail account, but there was nothing I could do. The threats eventually stopped.

You should have a place to click on for "full header(s)". Full header(s) gives you all the email info, including the "return path". Return path gives you the source of the email. That's one way to avoid the phishing scams that try to duplicate Ebay and Paypal webmail.
