I am going to be filing a claim in Minnesota and my main source of evidence will be email. I have all the emails on my computer that prove the defendant admitted to the crime. The problem is I need to prove the emails are authentic. I want to subpoena his mail file from his computer to prove that the messages I sent were read and responded to. How do I go about subpoenaing a mail file and how do I know I am getting the correct file and that it wasn't tampered with? Is this the best way to prove the authenticity of the emails? All the emails I have in my mailbox are messages I sent to here and they have an electronic stamp stating to whom the message was addressed. What do I need to do to prove the emails are authentic?
