What is the name of your state?IN

I formerly belonged to a local club of a national service organization. My wife designed and maintained a website for the activity we hosted. In November of 2004, the members of the club voted that I could not be in charge of this project any longer. My wife published (truthfully)what happened on her site, and we have continued our community service at another location.

Several of the club members began harassing my wife and I, via email and posts on her message board. She started blocking them from posting. We have been honest and direct in relaying what the club has done, which only makes them more upset. They have posted false statements about us on the message board (accusing me of stealing and other crimes) and have also emailed me (with cc's to others) with these false accusations. I have already sent an email to the administrator of the school system of one of these 'libel-mongers' is employed by, suggesting that the school may be involved in legal action (she used company email, while working, and cc'd to others a lie about me).

I was prepared to drop the issue, but the ex-president started emailing my wife again, so I want to shut them up legally.

What can I do?

What are your damages (in dollar amounts)?

I have not really thought about the dollar value of my reputation in the community, or my wife's tears and insomnia worrying about it. I guess the minimum amount that would make them stop lying. Does there need to be proof in dollars of damage?

I guess the minimum amount that would make them stop lying.

If I knew how to control people, then I would be using that method on some people I know.

Anyway, y'all have to decide if it is worth your while to spend thousands of dollars on a defamation lawsuit or not.

That's entirely up to y'all.
