What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana

This is not a custody question but I know you will know since some of you have suggested parents use these programs.

Is there any way to know if someone who sends you an email has a tracking program to show them whether or not you read the email or just deleted it without reading it?

And no, I am not trying to do anything underhanded to my kids' other parent!

I don't think there is.

The way I see it--I certainly wouldn't want anyone to be able to know or find out what programs I have on my computer without my knowlege or consent.

ETA: I take that back: Are you any good at hacking? ;)

Oh, yeah, there's lots of ways.

One is the read receipt that's built into every email program I've run across. Most people will click 'Yes' without thinking (I'm not one of those). That sends an email back to the sender letting him know that it was opened. You can click 'No' and read the email anyway or hit delete without reading it.

Just about anyway that you can be tracked on the Interwebs can be used in today's typical HTML format email.

Readnotify.com is one. Whoreadme.com is another. With whoreadme you get 20 emails per month for free. I prefer read notify.
