Financial Aid advice?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ALABAMA
Does anyone have any experience navigating financial aid? My 23 year old friend is trying to finish his bachelor's degree. His parents claimed him as a dependent, so he was unable to claim independent, and file FAFSA based soley on his income. He will not be able to recieve any financial aid, but his parents are not going to help him finance his education. Looking for any suggestions on federal loans, or what would be the next best thing? More importantly is there anything we can pursue legally, so that he would not have to claim their income?

A 23 year old is already legally emancipated. You're confusing legal emancipation with financial aid requirements. One has nothing to do with the other.
