I am looking to get emancipated in a few months right before I turn 17. I am starting college fall 2010 and this will link into why I am wanting/needing to get emancipated. My parents were actually the ones who proposed this to me, knowing without getting emancipated could hurt my changes of finishing and succeding in college. I live 30 miles from where I will be going to college. It is going to cost alot in gas plus I will need a car(bus doesnt come near where I live) Our thoughts were if I get emancipated I could get an apartment and walk to college and then ride the bus to work. Plus I live with both my parents, my 12 year old sister, 19 year old brother, and a friend of my dads. In a 2 bedroom house. Therefor I would not have anywhere to "get away" to study and do college work. I have my g.e.d. and did extreamly well on the tests. I have always done well in school. I have a part-time job. Since I will be going to college I can not work full time. I am recieving the pell grant and student need grant. for a total of 2,000 a quarter. Tuition is 1025. I could receive more if I didn't live with my parents. I have health insurance through DSHS and also am fed off Food stamps. My mom doesn't work and my dad only makes 14,000 a year. I have both my parents complete consent. Letters from my work, my boyfriend of 2 years, and his father. What do you think my chances are of becoming imancipated? I would be making about 800 a month. plus 325 after college expenses from the pell grant. I would be qualified for DSHS food and health still. I have been living off that my entire life. And Comunity Action and HUD would help with rent expenses. I would only pay 30%. About 270 a month. I could definatly live better then I am with my parents and then I would also be able to succed in college. What are my chances? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

There is no way on God's green earth any judge in any state is going to emancipate a teenager who needs state aid in order to support herself. If you are not able to support yourself 100% without any help, then the help needs to come from Mom and Dad, not the taxpayers.

Therefore, you have no chance whatsoever at being emancipated.
