ok...so I'm 17 and a senior in high school. A few weeks ago, I ran away from home. I was gone for 2 days and was told that my parents don't care where I'm at, or whether or not I come home as long as I finish school. So I came back to my hometown to finish, but I'm staying with a friend. Its been at least 3 or 4 weeks since I've been gone. Well, supposedly my mom had called the sheriff's department and already asked if she could emancipate me that way she wouldn't be responsible if anything happened to me. The man she talked to said it would be waste of time. However, I have to have permission from a legal guardian to do certain school activities such as FBLA conference, softball, and even prom. But, they aren't giving me permission to do any of it. So, I need to know all I can about the process of emancipation. How long would it take or is there any other way I can do things without their permission??

There is a reason that we ask for your state. Not all states allow for a minor to be emancipated at all. In the state that do, the procedures, as well as what an emancipated minor is able to do, varies.

So since you chose to disregard the forum rules and not list your state, there is no way anyone can answer your question.
