What is the name of your state? TN
I took a friend to dinner. As we were leaving a woman (X) came up to her and started discussing my friends private financial status at her place of employment. I was there and so was X's husband. My friends husband may need a heart transplant, and because of his health their bills are paid late (but always within the month they are due). The woman X said you were late with last months bill and today the new one is due. My boss said I am suppose to call everyone and tell them if they are two weeks late he will repossess. My friend said I paid you 75% of the purchase price down and I only owe 5 more payments. My friend told X the contract states paid within 30 days from the due date. Woman X said well my first loyalty is to my boss and he has advised me to bla bla bla. She went on and on and I know my friend was embarrassed because she keeps her financial matters private. Is an employee of a company allowed to do this to a customer in a public place?
I would think a reputable company would not allow this behavior by an employee especially if the issue is a private contract where I and Ms X's husband are not involved. What recourse would she have if any? Thank you

none. you could have walked away from the conversation or your friend could have asked to speak with the lady in a more private setting.
