I live in Illinois. My son is 14 and has wanted to live with me for quite a while, but through my readings and a visit to an attorney, I concluded the likelihood was slim without a major change in circumstances. We may have finally met that criteria. Last night my sons step-dad called him stupid. When my son got alone with his mother, he told her he didn't have to put up with that. She said yes you do. He was crying and VERY upset when he called me. I want him in this house where he will have some semblance of respect. He has a 16 year old brother, a 12 year old sister and a 3 year old 1/2 brother in the household now. My 16 year old odesn't get battered with this verbal abuse, and my 12 year old doesn't have to worry about verbal abuse for reasons I won't get into. Have my chances markedly increased for getting full custody of my 14 year old? Thanks!
