I was former employee of a sheriffs office in North carolina. My boss knew was leaving for the day before i left for medical leave he moved me from my job and replaced me with out discussing it with me when I asked why I was told I needed a attorney to find out why. he refused to give me a reason and allow me to file agrevience, there are alot of other issues but I need to know what are the statutes of limitations in Northcarolina for a lawsuit and can sheriff' offices be sued regarding employment issues i was told the sheriff has the right to hire and fire at his will and we donot have a policy mannual to refere to.

There isn't nearly enough info in your post to try to determine whether any laws were violated but it's certainly possible. When you say he "moved me out of my job," do you mean your employment was terminated?

The first possibilty that occurs to me is that perhaps there was an FMLA violation. If you can answer the following questions, that would help to determine that.

1. Approx how many employees work for this Sheriff's Department?
2. How long were you employed there?
3. Were you full time?
4. How long ago did this happen?
5. What was your medical leave for?
6. At what point were you terminated? At the beginning of your leave or at a later date?
