I have recently received a promotion with my company and am required to relocate from Nashville, TN to Knoxville, TN in one month.

My present rental property requires 60 days notice and an $800.00 cancellation fee. Because I was just offered the position 2 days ago, I had no way of notifying the property of my intent to terminate 60 days ago.

My question is... is there a law in TN that requires a rental property to forgive a lease in the case of relocation for employment?

I appreciate any guidance regarding this issue.

YOU owe the $800 cancellation fee and the 2 months rent...

Figure it as the cost of a job relocation.....

Hope the new job pays VERY WELL to cover your loss.

You have to look up the TN laws.

I heard that GA may have such a law.
