My mother died recently with breast cancer. She was fired from her Employer a month before she died because she had missed several days of work. Her only life insurance was through her employer. Is thier anything that can be done to the employer to collect these benefits since she was terminated.

that depends on a lot of variables including if the final premium was paid, if the termination was legal and when the Cobra was extended to her.

Unless you know all of these there is no way we can answer.

Most GTL policies have conversion privileges that can be acted upon to preserve the life insurance benefit. Depending on when her termination was effective, and how the GTL contract is written, the coverage may have continued through the end of the month without further payment.
