What is the name of your state? Connecticut

I'm in the process of negotiating terms of a job offer I recently recieved. I'm a heathcare practitioner who has been asked to sign a 'non-compete' contract. The contract states that I can't work within a 50 mile radius in my field for a period of two years if I leave the practice. Are those employment terms legally binding?

They are legally binding if you agree to them.

Non-compete clauses must be reasonable as to time and space.

50 miles is very reasonable; two years seems (to me) to be pushing it. However, since the space is so tiny (especially in an urban state such as yours), then you should have no trouble getting a job that is more than 50 miles away if you leave the job you are contemplating.

There's nothing that says you can't negotiate....
