House Arrest Electronic Monitoring and Employment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be serving 6 months of house arrest for a DUI conviction and as a term of the program must be employed full time. I lost my job because of this DUI and I will be on an electronic monitoring device.

I need advice on how to find a job. Does the employer need to know about the monitor and requirements? Are there any resources such as recruiters specializing in placing people in my situation? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You

Although technically there is nothing in the law that requires you to tell the employer that you are on house arrest and subject to monitoring, you will need to be prepared for situations that might affect it. Say you get hired to work at one store, and one morning the boss says, "I need you to go work at the other store today" and the other store is outside your monitoring restrictions. What are you going to tell him? That wouldn't be a very good time for him to hear, "Sorry, boss, I'm on a court ordered twenty-five mile radius limit" for the first time. You'll need to be prepared for that kind of situation.

I don't know of any recruiters that specialize in your situation. That doesn't mean there aren't any - just that I don't know about them if there are. Sorry, I know that's not much help.
