our lease is up at the end of March and I was wondering if it was legally required in the state of CA for the LL to give 30 days notice that she doesn't intend to renew the lease?

Last question, Homeguru, I promise! If the renewal of our lease states, "this addendum to be effective from oct 1, 2000 and will be for six months or until march 1, 2001 and thereafter will be month-to-month" How will we know if it's going to be month-to-month? Please don't think I'm stupid, just stupid in this area!!!

Here is the answer.... AS of Tomorrow you are on a month to month lease..

Therefore the landlord can TODAY give you a 30 day notice to of non renewal and to vacate the premisis as of March 31st.

If the landlord gives you notice TOMORROW, then by the lease you will NOT have to vacate until the end of April.

Thats it.......from here on out all he has to do is give you a 30 day notice from the time you normally pay rent..the 1st and you must be out by the end of the month
