What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama

Me and some people went into a friends house when they were out of town. We did not take anything, but the owner is considering pressing charges. How long does the owner of the house have to press charges before that option becomes obsolete?
She also has been blackmailing us by making her pay cash or she would. I had to pay $40 for MY knife back that I left on the couch that slipped out of my pocket. Another friend has to pay $20 for no reason. My other friend and the owners daughter were playing around one day when her daughters phone broke and is now making him pay $200 for it which she didn't worry about before. The phone we found was worth a lot less then she is making him pay. She is trying to make money off of us and we dont know our rights. Can anyone please help with this? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Well, you can call the cops and report this person for the extortion (and thereby confess to the trespassing), or you can suck it up and keep being his patsy, or, you can just say "no more" and take it as it comes.

Now that this person has effectively committed a crime by extorting money out of you, the chances of him reporting you and your friends for trespassing (or for whatever the offense might be in AL), I doubt that he will report it.
