To Whom It May Concern:
I am starting a business in NC organized as a Partnership which will have a membership based clientele. We are an entertainment service that charges a monthly membership fee and organizes events for our members which they pay for. For example, we would organize a skydiving trip and allow 30 members to sign up. Our company would negotiate the total price, divide it by 30 members, collect the fees from members and pay the skydiving company. We have been told that organizations charging a fee for memberships are required by the State of NC to maintain an "Entertainment Bond" which requires you to be in business for two years before you qualify to get it, and costs roughly $10,000.
Would you direct us to any information the state provides on this requirement? Thank you very much.
