What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california

i recently requested and receive a copy of my criminal record from the department of justice, i noticed a record of petty theft in corona california, ive never even been to corona, california or commited petty theft. Only thing i can possibly think of is when i lost my wallet years ago with all my id's in it and someone went on a rash of using my id to bounce checks all over the LA area, maybe they got arrested?
In any case what do i need to do to get this expunged / deleted from my record?
Any advice would be a god send

thank you

You have to appear in the Corona case and ask the Court to make a determination that the convicted person is not you.

I think that's the Riverside central court which covers Corona. Call the clerks and tell them the problem & ask if you can appear in court.
The Judge should have the Prosecutor arrange for a detective to fingerprint you and your prints will be compared with the prints from the defendant's booking.
The Court can issue a statement for you to carry which states you are not the person who was convicted in that case.
They may be able to ID who the person was who identified himself as you. If so, they will file felony charges against him (you will have to testify at trial).

Ask the Judge if s/he will order that the records at DOJ be amended to show that the conviction does not pertain to you, per your social security # & birth date.
