What is the name of your state? Ohio Is there such a law as establishung residency?
I have been on a lease for 3 or 4 years and have lived in the apartment 5 or 6 years before that? I am 63 and my friend I live with is 72
He took me in when I was homelss, broke, sick and gave me a home. I never lived in an apartment before, always a house.
He had never lived with anyone before. We did not know you had to report someone who was living with you to the landlord. The apartment manager said if I could not pass a income and credit check and if I was not married to him I would be kicked out and homeless again. They almost kelled me in a so called homeless shelter!!!
I signed the lease, he gave me permission to use his last name and we told them we were married. They said I passed the credit check they did on me and I was official a Mrs. on the lease and I could stay.
Now my question is if my friend would die, he told me to look into this, I should move to a one bedroom in the comples because it would be $100 cheaper than our 2 bedroom.
My next question is if I move to the 1 bedroom would I have to go through another credit check, etc. if they ever realy did do one? I have enough money now on my widows survivors benefit social security check to pay the $450 rent on the one bedroom, but most apartments have an income rule and I would fall short by $20 or $25 for the month.
My check is for $1,012.00 but they want one fourth of the monthly rent, and I dont have it.
Or would they just say OK Mrs. Jones you dont need a 2 bedroom and we will let you move to a one bedroom to help you .
Or would baby sitting qualify to bring up the amount to $25.00 more ?
I dont want to baby sit because I am nervous and cant stand noise or mess but I could do it in order to stay here. HELP please!!!!
