What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I saw someone with a similar circumstance so I thought I'd ask.

My grandfather died some years ago. My uncle was the personal representative. He died earlier this year. My sister and I are the only remaining beneficiaries/heirs. I have found a small unclaimed property account of my grandfathers. I understand it can be expensive to hire an attorney so I'm trying to see how I can obtain letters of administration to collect the assests. I don't want to spend more than we might collect and I live on a very tight budget.

From what I can see this is what needs to be done since the executor is deceased:

Submit:
A Petition to Reopen & Order to Reopen for Further Administration;
An amended petition (I understand this is because I would be a successor representative, but is this a second petition or can it be done on the first petiton to reopen?);
Oath of personal representative;
Proposed letters of administration.

Is this information correct? May I file these myself?

Thanks for your help.

You are on the right track, but first check with the county courthouse probate court to see if there are simplified procedures for smaller estates.

Thanks very much. I appreciate your response.
I know there is a scenario when 'No Letters are Needed' where you File a Petition for Subsequent Administration & Order for Subsequent Administration. This, the way I understand, must describe the specific asset to be administered. I didn't think that would work since the holder said I should have a letter of administration. So, based on your comment I'll check into that and see if the holder will accept the resultant docs.
