Hi-my question is I haven't received child support since february because my x is trying to get 35.00 a week reduction for 2 kids.
What happens if he doesn't pay? can he get away with this for a long period of time? I happened to get laid off and times are tough right now and I really could use the $70.00 a week. What can I do?

Need to know some things first like what state are you in and is this a court order..if so what does it say and is it being handled through CSE?

Hi, the answer to your question is the court order is 70.00 a week per child and the state is PA. He took me back in March to get it reduced (that's a joke) and we have to go in front of a Master in June. In the meantime, we are receiving nothing. Thank-you for your reply. Igglefan:)

As far as I know he still has to pay the$70 a week. He can't just stop paying because he's trying to get it reduced....unless this was a court order, which I doubt. If he hasn't paid anything since Feb. then he is in contempt of court and a hearing needs to be set to show why he has failed to pay. Is this being handled through Child Support Office? If so, they usually handle all that and try to get the person served to appear in court. If it's not I'm not sure how you handle it but you should do some checking around, maybe you could go to the court house and try to file to have him served. You could also try calling a lawyer. I'm not sure if this will help or if this is what you're looking for. Also, in alot of states having more children can reduce someone's CS payments but it cannot be the only reason to try to get a reduction..he must have another reason as well, like reduction in wages.
