Last November, a co-worker asked if he could rent my garage. He said he would pay me $100 dollars a month. He wanted the space to work on his cars since it was winter. i agreed and he moved in around December 15th. He only paid $50 since half the month was gone. Then January 15, he showed up and paid me $100. There was never a written agreement. I haven't heard from him since. He has never showed up to work in the garage either. I'm really not worried about collecting the back money he owes me, I just want him out of my garage now. He has 2 cars that don't look as if they will run stored in there. I have no clue as to how to get ahold of him to let him know. He has the garage door opener. Neither one of us work at the place that we did in the first place and no one there has a clue of where he is. So how do I get those cars out? Can i legally have them towed? I live in Ohio.

Check Ohio law on the subject of abandoned real estate and the disposition of property left behind. The keyword abandon should find it for you.

It may be a major pain for you. The law may prescribe a procedure for disposing of abandoned property and you must follow it. Generally, if the value of the property is small, you can dispose of it however you like and not have any further responsibility. But if the value is large then you have strict requirements about notification, you may have to store the property for some time in case he comes back and wnts it, then you have to hold an official sale of the property and there are rules about disposing of the money.
