What is the name of your state? CA

Someone told my landlady that I said, "I don't need to pay rent, because he has so much money;" he meaning the owner. I was behind on rent and had made arrangements to make payments, but then my full-time work went to part-time, and I was only able to make the utility payments. The owner became furious when the landlady told him what I supposedly said, and he immediately started the eviction process. Do I have a case?

A case of what? To pay your rent? yes. To stop eviction....that depends on your lease and how long it's been since you've paid, and your state's l/t laws.
