I live in michigan, i have lived in the mobile home park for 4 years now and on 1 occasion had a lot rent check bounce which i payed for, and due to my husband having back surgery was late a couple of times and also both my husband and i lost our jobs at the same time which made us late 1 more time for the lot rent. I went to pay the lot rent and had included the late fee which at the time was 2 dollars a day. I was told that a new company had bought the park and their new rules were pay and qutomatic 40 dollars after 5 days late plus any other late fees or they would not accept my check. I had paid all late fees or so i thought and when they informed me that I owed 1300.oo in late fees from back to 1999, 60$ a month for the last 2 years i did not know what to do. I have tried to call the district manager to resolve this problem he will not return my calls, then i got a notice in the mail for a court hearing on monday, june 25 for eviction. I called the lawyer on the order and she will not return my call also. I have 4 children, because of my husband and i both losing our jobs i have lost both of my cars, and i need to know what rights i have. another problem we have is that the park manager is going around telling people that we are getting evicted and that we owe them all kinds of money. please help i don't know what to do!

Check state laws on MHP

New owner can't collect monies for previous owner. You need to check Michigan state law to see if there are rules governing the operation of MHP.

Sounds like a another low life, scumbag REDNECK trick, to force people to pay money they dont owe....maybe the park manager comes up with these things out of thin air so the manager can pocket the money

Late fees ARE NOT transferrable to the new owners.....

So let a judge decide its your right as an American.,

And who konws maybe the manager will get fired, for harassing and bad mouthing tenants, or for stealing money from the owner.

HEY you are dealing with REDNECKS....Get used to it!
