Am currently renting a house in California. The landlord accepted and cashed our rent check for May. On May 17th, we received a letter from landlord stating she wants us out of the rental in 30 days so she can sell it. We initially had paid to landlord a check to cover the first and last months rent which means we are paid up to the end of June. Can the landlord force out before then?

NO, what kind of a lease do you have month to month, well since you paid last months rent and as long as you kept the reciepts, you have a legal right to stay until june 30th.

And of course to use the last months rent for june.

We have a month to month rental agreement. Yes we do have copies of the checks the landlord cashed for the month of May and June. Thanks.

Its possible the landlord already has sold it and its going to close on June 17th

Then you can hold her up by demanding you get all of your security and last months rent up front before you even think of moving.... remember she is breaking the lease so her penalty will be no rent from june 1st to the 17th..

It all depends if she is kool with june 30 or is she freaking out!
